According to Oxford Languages, anxiety is a “feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.”

The Bible gives us guidance about how we should handle anxiety. There are a variety of verses available to discuss, and the following are some of the most commonly read. Below are 11 Bible verses for anxiety.

Every day, we have the chance to decide how we will act in or react to situations that arise.

Here are a few verses to help you overcome anxiety and remember that God is in control of the situations you face.

Use these verses to guide you. Write them down. Print them off. Memorize them. Do whatever you need to do to ensure that you have them near you–in your heart and mind–when you need them.

Hebrews 13:6

“So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Philippians 4:6-7

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.”

Matthew 6:34

Bible verses for anxietyPsalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the [c]still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

1 Peter 5:6-7

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”

2 Timothy 1:7

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Isaiah 35:4

“Say to those who are fearful-hearted, ‘Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you’.”

Isaiah 41:10

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Joshua 1:9

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
