1 Peter 5:7 says it plain: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Not some of your care. All of it.
I don’t know about you, but when I read that verse, I immediately think, “Sure, God. But YOU haven’t seen my to-do list.” (You know how funny that sounds, right?!)
Here’s the thing though — God never asked us to carry it. We just… do. We pick everything up because it’s there, because no one else is picking it up, because we’re the responsible one and that’s what responsible people do. Right?
Wrong.
Or at least — not the whole story.
God never wanted us to carry everything ourselves. He holds us. He wants us to actually hand Him our burdens, not just talk about handing them to Him while we white-knuckle the whole thing anyway. (No? You don’t do that? I guess I’m the only one!)
Called to Him, Not to Perfection
Surrendering to God means giving Him the pressure. The weight. The 3 a.m. worry spirals. The stuff you haven’t even said out loud yet. He wants your worries, your cares, your anxiety — all of it — so He can carry it. He wants to carry you.
In the middle of all that carrying, remember this: God never called you to perfection. He called you to Him.
That’s it. That’s all He’s asking.
He has already given you grace for the days you don’t get it right — even before you needed that grace. Trust me, I need it because I never get it right. Not completely. Not consistently.
That’s not a flaw in the plan. That IS the plan. His grace was never meant to be a backup system for when you fail. It’s the whole foundation–of everything.
Today, whatever you’re carrying — the parent appointment you forgot to schedule, the kid who needed you and got the tired version of you, the business idea sitting untouched for the third week in a row — you can set it down. Not because it doesn’t matter–but, because it was never yours to carry alone in the first place.
Cast it. All of it. He’s got you.
